I was attempting to download and install Windows' "Photo Story 3" on my
XPPro OS as offered by Microsoft, as Freeware, and so highly praised by
others.
I downloaded the 'pstory.msi' from the official Windows site, but then
received the following error message when attempting to install it:
"This installation package could not be opened. Contact application vendor
to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."
I am confused, since this came from Windows' own site and I am using a
validated XPPro OS for almost a year; have installed all updates and SP2 CD
received from MS.
I have tried the install 4x from saved and direct downloads. All yielded
the same error message as above.
I have tried with and without my Zone Alarm firewall enabled.
I use a Dell Inspiron 9100 with 512 Ram and plenty of room on HD.
How am I supposed to install the " Photo Story 3" for my digital imaging?
This is the first time for this problem with MS. All else has been running
smoothly, and all downloads have been problem-free. I do not use a download
accelerator. My Internet connection is 1.5mb cable, and I am individually
wired - no network.
Is SP2 doing something evil?
Can you help? Thanks-
