Install of Windows XP blocked

I am new to these newsgroups and first put this question in the general section. Sorry about that. I think it belongs here. I am trying to upgrade my Windows 98SE computer to Windows XP. When I start the upgrade-install of Windows XP, the Windows XP install program checks my computer for programs that will block the Windows XP install, before Windows XP is installed. In the report of that checking process, I received a message on the screen that GoBack has to be uninstalled before the Windows XP upgrade-install process can continue. However, before trying to install Windows XP, I had already uninstalled GoBack in the add/remove programs list in the Control Panel and then rebooted my computer. At tha tpoint, GoBack no longer appeared in my add/remove programs list. Yet, I still receive the message during the install of Windows XP that GoBack needs to be uninstalled. Also, after uninstalling GoBack, I checked the registry for any GoBack entries but I couldn't find any of them. Perhaps I missed some.
Since I already uninstalled GoBack from the add/remove programs list in the Control Panel, what else do I need to do, so that GoBack does not block my upgrade installation of Windows XP?
Thanks.
Richard

Actually you're /still/ in the wrong group. Please repost to
microsoft.public.windowsxp.setup_deployment. This group is really for isses
with the Help and Support feature (though it's been hijacked).

Another helpful post from Miss Perspicacia Tick!

Richard as you probably know, GoBack is a Symantec product. Since you feel
comfortable browsing through the registry , do a search for Symantec.

Please do not do this if you have other Symantec products on your PC (i.e.
Anti-Virus, SystemWorks, Ghost, etc...)

Please use caution when editing the registry.

Goback has to be disabled or turned off first. Then reboot and uninstall it.

Have you checked to make sure the goback folder has been deleted, you never
know if the folders still there that may be what the XP install is
detecting.

All the best

As you have me killfiled (and it was perfectly helpful - this isn't the
group for setup issues) I'm surprised you saw it. I can't see how your post
was helpful either. You are an idiot.
