I am trying to install XP on a new hard drive and it
freezes at different points on the copying files portion
of the install. I read several posts with the same type
of problem but couldn't find a remedy for this
problem...does anyone have a solution?

I had a similar problem. BSoD's or just locking
up,...Turned out that the fan/heatsink on the processor was
not cooling the processor. Bought a new one, trouble
gone.......

Thanks for the reply....
Which fan/heatsink did you buy and how much did it cost.
I have a dimension 4400 with a new 4500 motherboard since
my old one died.

Thanks for all of the help in this post. I finally got my
xp to install. You wouldn't believe how I achieved this.
I read in this post that someone solved their problem by
replacing their heat sink because the processor was
getting to hot. I figured instead of getting a new heat
sink, I would come up with another way of keeping my
processor cool....without a household fan. I simply
opened the box, let the house fan blow right into the
inside during the installation and it worked like a
charm. It ran through without any problems and didn't get
hung up. I've loaded all of my software onto the computer
and everything is running smoothly. The only problem is
that I loaded xp on a 10 GB partition and now I can't
access the other 70 GB on my hard drive. If anyone knows
how to do this without re-installing XP....can you let me
know.
