Install Error XP Pro from XP Home SP2

Toshiba Satellite m55-s3293
will not upgrade as my xp pro is older than the original os on laptop
loaded cd on startup...loads all components from cd...and then it STOPS @
"Starting Windows"
have tried this maybe 20 times with three different XP Pro cd's

ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

First, take a deep cleansing breath. This is doable. You just need to
slipstream your original copy of XP with Service Pack 2. I like
AutoStreamer, but there are other methods:

I'm actually trying to do a clean instal of XP Pro...our network doesn't like
to use
SP2 so I will have to be installing SP1. not sure if this info changes things

Then if your current installation is SP1 and your XP Pro install disk is
XP Gold (no Service Packs), slipstream SP1. You'll need to find a copy
of SP1. Look on Microsoft's website.

If this still doesn't work, contact your IT Dept. for help or take the
machine to a local professional.

If you're doing a clean installation, it doesn't matter what version is
already on the drive. So if you're getting that "Older Version" message,
you're doing the installation wrong.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).
