Install error XP Home vga.sys file is corrupted

I am installing XP Home with SP2 on an older machine. No matter how many
times I try, the same message appears about the vga.sys file being corrupt
and the installation stops. I want to verify that this problem is from
incompatible hardware. The disk reads fine in other machines...I can see all
the files but each and every time this installs this is what happens. Is
there a way around this? Thanks.
