Hi

I am trying to install Outlook 2003 BCM and have encountered problems.
--Vista Business (32)
--Outlook 2003 installed and running succesfully for several months.

Tried installing BCM from Office CD-ROM
--Warning of compatability issues
-- refered to MS site for SP4

Tried installing BCM SP4
--told that it could not install upgrade because of no existing installation.

Installed BCM from Office CD-ROM and ignored compatability warning.
Tried installing BCM SP4.
--Seemed OK but gave install program gave error message on completion...
"Setup failed to install Microsoft Office 2003 with Business Contact Manager
SP4. See C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\MBSsetuptmp597A.log for more
detail."

Opened this file but the content was beyond my comprehension. However, near
the end of the file I did notice this text:
"MSI (s) (80:CC) [14:01:47:638]: Product: Microsoft Office Small Business
Connectivity Components -- Installation operation completed successfully."

Though the installation does not seem to have been successfull. Opening
Outlook showed no signs of BCM.

Thanks for any help,
-Dazza

PS I can send the log file.

Is BCM in Add Remove Programs?

Thanks for asking.

Yes, BCM shows up in add/remove programs listing.

Actually 2 entries:
-BCM for Outlook 2003
-MS Office Small Business Connectivity Components

I maybe mixed these two. As I re-check the error log, it is only the
"Connectivity Components" which was successfully installed. There is no
similar success message for BCM itself.

So, if BCM says its is installed (in Add/remove) and it doesn't show
up in Outlook, check to see if Outlook thinks BCM is installed.

In the Windows Registry check:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins
\Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddin.Connect.3
The value of LoadBehavior should be 3 for Outlook to load it.

Hi Luther

I checked the registry. You said to look for -
....\Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddin.Connect.3

Well, I found -
....\Microsoft.BusinessSolutions.eCRM.OutlookAddin.Connect.1
In this registry entry the value of LoadBehavior was set to 3

I don't see any evidence that BCM is available within Outlook, but I am no
quite sure what clues to look for either.

Thanks for your suggestions,
-Darryl

Try creating a new Mail profile, and using it in Outlook. Does the BCM
1st use wizard come up when Outlook starts? If yes, there's something
wrong with your original Mail profile. You can try adding a BCM store
directly to your original profile using the Control Panel Mail applet.
