Install 2 copies of XP Home on the same computer

I have one computer with an OEM copy of XP Home, for my 2 sons. One is VERY
young and likes to "explore", so I have been forced to reinstall XP several
times and lose some of the older boy's homework.

I want to do the following:
1) Keep XP and all of the older boy's information on Drive C.
2) Install a second hard drive with XP and the younger boy's information on
Drive D.
3) I would want this to be a true dual boot system, with each boy having no
interaction with the other's hard drive.

Is this possible with both drives running XP Home? Any information
regarding how this could be done would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Bob

It's possible, as long as you purchase a second Windows XP
license for the second installation.

I would have thought that a single license would be sufficient, because
both copies run on the same hardware and will never run simultaneously
(I believe I read this is a discussion group about VMware's workstation
emulator)?

Thanks

If you are going to the trouble of putting in two HDs, you may want to
entertain the idea of using a mobile tray so that the HDs can be switched
out rather quickly <less than two minutes> without opening the case. Then
the OS can be installed on both computers.
It would be like having two completely different computers.

Another suggestion to have an imaging program <such as ghost> and have the
older son create new images when his work is complete. That way if the
system gets out of whack <technical term>, the image can be easily restored
without loss of information.

Good luck

A Windows XP license can only be used once on
one computer. A second installation requires a second
license.

From the Windows XP EULA:

1.1 Installation and use. You may install, use, access,
display and run one copy of the Software on a single
computer, such as a workstation, terminal or other
device ("Workstation Computer"). The Software may not
be used by more than two (2) processors at any one
time on any single Workstation Computer.

Please read your End-User License Agreement by going
to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter. Then
click on "End-User License Agreement".

If you already have a retail copy of Windows XP, you can obtain
additional licenses for another computer or laptop by visiting the
following Microsoft Web site:
