Inserting text

I have a simple question about Word 2003 that I'm assuming involves a
setting. As in most applications, I would like to be able to highlight a
section of text, and have it automatically delete and replace with new
characters when I begin to type. Right now I have to highlight, hit the
delete key, then type. I want to be able to highlight and begin typing
without the extra step of hitting the delete key.

You're in the Access forum, but here's a guess to your
Word problem. In Word 97 I go to Tools/Options/Edit and
select "Typing replaces selection". Don't know if that's
the same in 2003, but there's probably something similar.

Hope this helps.
