Inserting music

I am having trouble inserting music (mp3) into a powerpoint presentation. I
have done this before, but don't know what is wrong. The procedure I am
using is:

Insert > Movies & Sounds > Sound From File

Then I choose the file (song) I want to insert. However, I am getting the
following error:

Powerpoint couldn't insert a sound from the select file

Any help on this is greatly appreciated!
