Inserting JPEG or GIF files

R

Ron Blocher

I have created several jpeg graphics using Illustrator and tried to insert
them into FrontPage, but I get a notice that FrontPage doesn't recognize the
format. However I can insert jpeg and gif files that I get from other
sources.

Can someone tell me what I can do to correct my problem?

Thank you,

Make sure you weren't working in CMYK in Illustrator, you want to work in RGB and save it as an RGB jpg

Convert/Export your illustrator (raw file) images to gif or jpegs. Import them
into the web, insert them in the page.

Frontpage only allows certain image file types

Thank you.

I found that is what I had to do. The graphics that I created had a large
amount of gradient filled areas, and apparently it is too much for FrontPage
to handle using the Insert command. I've had no problems inserting other
jpeg files that contained little or no gradient filled areas into FrontPage.

Gradient fills shouldn't matter.

You might have a problem if the file was really large or if you didn't import it into FP first then insert it into the design.

What was the file size anyway? I'm curious because I've inserted large gradients before without a problem.

The size is 104kb. Since you said gradients should not matter, I decided to
give it another try. This time I deselected making Previews, and it now
works.

Thank you very much!!!

Just figured out that the problem had nothing to do with the format used,
even though that was the error given by FrontPage. It actually was that the
names of the files saved were either too long, had a space, or used illegal
characters.

It was driving me crazy because one file would be ok and the next not, and
the problem was in the naming of the files!
