Inserting International (French) Characters

I've tried to insert French characters e.g. Accents and
Graves using the recognised keyboard commands (CTRL + `
FOLLOWED BY A LETTER etc.) but it doesn't seem to work. I
have the same problem when using Appleworks 5 for
Windows. Is my keyboard set-up or configuration at fault?

Please help.

Hey Lew,

Shouldn't that be ALT

e.g. Hold down ALT

Key in 130

Let go ALT and you get é

For the full range of characters, go into

start/all programs/accessories/system tools/character map

Click on the character, and in the bottom right, it gives you the key
sequence.
