I am creating a database to hold the names of famous artists. Some names
are French and include characters with diacritical marks such as the acute,
grave, or circumflex. Microsoft Word allows the use of keyboard shortcuts
to type international characters, but I can't find a way for the user to do
this in Access. The only solution I can find at present is to provide a
text display of the various letters, such as E acute or E grave and leave it
to the user to copy and paste, which seems very clunky. Can someone suggest
a better way please.

Leonard,
In most fonts, hold the Alt key and type in 0232 from the num pad for...
è
You can use Charmap, the Windows accessory font viewer that will give
you the Ascii value of the e's you need.
Alt 0233 = é
Alt 0234 = ê etc...

Another freeware font viewer I use is MyCharMap, available on the web.
