Inserting hyperlinks/file paths into message body of custom form

This was originally in another newsgroup and then it was suggested that I
post here...

Is it possible to insert a path to a specific file system folder into the
message body of an AppointmentItem in Outlook so that when the user clicks on
it, the file opens or Explorer opens to the specific folder indicated?

I've tried creating shortcuts to files and folders and then attaching them,
however Outlook doesn't save them. We're a project-based organization and I
would like to provide direct links to the project folders on our server so
that the users don't have to go clicking around to find the information that
pertains to a specific item on a public calendar.

I am using a custom form.
