Inserting higer resolution mpegs int ppt

I have just started using Pinnacle Studio 8 for editing
videos. Whe I save the video to low resolution (352x240)
format (VCD) I have no problem inserting it into ppt. If
I save the file as a higher resolution SVCD (480x480) or
DVD (720x480) I get an error message saying "Powerpoint
couldn't insert a movie from the selected file. Either
the file is non-standard or Quicktime is not properly
installed". All files are saved as MPGs.
What do I need to do to use the higher resolution
videos? Thanks

Both SVCD and DVD files are MPEG2 format, while VCD is MPEG1.
Could be that your machine is not happy with playing MPEG2 files.
I'd look at the MPEG2 decoder at www.elecard.com (bear in mind that if you
plan to distribute your presentation you'll probably have to stick with the
standard MPEG1, low res, files as playback of higher resolution MPEG2 files
is far from standard).
Another option, if the software allows, is to save in MPEG1 format at a
higher resolution than 352x240. Care must be taken, however, as the MPEG
format is fussy about sizes. Both width and height must be a multiple of
16. Even then you risk unreliable playback if you wander from the accepted
size of 352x240 (352x288 in PAL country).
