Playing high resolution mpeg files on PPT

Hello everybody,
I'm running into this strange problem and I hope you can help me. I
have several mpeg videos (720x480) which I want to show on a
presentation.

Problem:
- the mpeg video is not correctly recognized when inserted into the
slide, it becomes an empy black box 480x480.

Please note that:
- all the videos play perfectly in Windows Media Player
- the path is short, so this is not the issue of the 128 char limit
- all the software and drivers are uptodate
- it seems that also windows has some problem, as it cannot display the
thumbnails of such videos (352x240 videos are ok)
- filenames are in plain english, no strange encoding involved
- it seems nobody else is running into the same problem

I'm searching around but so far I haven't found the solution. Any idea?

My off-the-top-of-my-head guess is it's a codec issue. Or it could be a
hardware or software conflict. http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm
has some suggestions, but I'd recommend you grab PFCMedia
(http://www.pfcmedia.com), let it convert your videos, and be done with it.
