Inserting Excel spreadsheet into Word

This has always been a knightmare for me. I don't understand why such a
simple task is so complicated. When I paste special/paste link copied rows
and columns from Excel into Word, it will only paste 13 columns. I have
copied 14, but it won't paste the last column. I've copied more, still will
only paste 13. I've inserted a column in the middle of the Excel spreadsheet
just to test Word, and it will drop the last column off and past still only
13 columns. I have reduced the size the the spreadsheet in Word so that
there is room to paste more columns but it will only paste 13. What gives?

Which version of Office?

As a general rule, Word 97 and 2000 had problems with this that were alleviated
in Word 2002/2003. If you have one of those early versions there may not be any
solution other than pasting in RTF format (so that the result is managed as a
Word table).

It's been that busy that I am finally getting back to this only now!! Yes,
we have Word 2000. Don't know when we will be upgrading. Hopefully soon! A
Word table is not the answer so I will have to wait for an upgrade
unfortunately.
