Linking Excel spreadsheets into Word

Hi,
A colleague has a Word file where he links a few spreadsheets into a
Word file using the following method:

1. highlight the spreadsheet table
2. In word: Insert | Paste Special | Paste Link
3. chosing Picture (windows metafile)

when he opens word it links to the Excel spreadsheets. Recently the
links stopped working!
Any clues?
Also, there are more than one method to link - any recommendations?


Background: the files are on a Novell shared folder.

checked SP- seems they have 2003 sp3.

Hi Siva,

Did this start to happen when Office 2003 Service Pack 3 was installed?
Is he using named ranges from the Excel spreadsheet? There was a bug in SP3 that could cause that and there's a hotfix for that one
available.
