insert signature outlook 2003

In Outlook 2003, trying to Insert/Signature, but the .jpg and .gif do not
appear. I can preview the signature and it looks fine. I have tried lowering
ActiveX settings, but that doesn't work. If I make Word 2003 the email
editor, and automatically insert signatures (tools/options/mail
format/signatures), this works. But the CEO of our company wants to manually
insert signatures when he wants to, preferably using Outlook as the email
editor.

I run all updates, can't seem to figure this one out. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for your help.

See if something here helps:

Thanks, but I already read that. It doesn't really explain how to fix this
problem with the box and red x showing up instead of the picture when I do
an Insert/Signature.

When inserting a .gif (particularly animated), make sure your email is set to
HTML first. Then open the .gif using IE, copy it, and paste it into your
signature.
Hope this helps.

I hope you can help. When I try to save animated images from another email to
use in my signature, I can only save them as bitmap & I lose the animation.
The image then only shows up as a red x. I have referred to
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=810978, but that didn't help, and I have
been unable to open the image in internet explorer 6. It only comes up as a
red x with an unknown property. I can copy and paste the image into an email
without any problem, but I cannot save it as a signature and have it work
when I send messages. This is frustrating, because I used this very image
before my hd crashed without any difficulty! Thanks in advance for any
suggestions you may have.
