Insert Excel Object Loses Formatting

I am inserting an excel object into a powerpoint slide. When I do the
object looks fine except I have some negative numbers that show up in
black font instead of red. Is there a fix to this?
 
Double click on the Excel object (in PowerPoint), then edit the color just
like you would in Excel.
