initiate chkdsk

ut when i click on itmy computer indicates i have one/more corrupt files and
suggests using chkdsk utility...

when i search for chkdsk i find an (.exe) file
but when i click on it the program runs but only
generates a list of (corrupt ?) files and does not repair them...

when i use NORTON Systemworks...the Disk Doctor indicates that
everything is OK except the ...file structure status...
which again produces a list of (corrupt ?) files but does not repair them...
a dialog box (?) indicates that ..."the operating system, or another
process, has exclusive access to this (C) drive or some of its files. Disk Dr
cannot repair."...
when i uncheck "fix errors" it generates the above listing of corrupt files...

how can i get chkdsk to repair these "corrupt attribute records" and "orphan
file record segments"...i cannot tell which files/programs are the problem
since the listing only gives segment address numbeers...

THX
cheers...bill campbell

Hello,

Try right clicking on the drive (that you want to run chkdsk on) and select
properties. Then go to the "tools" tab. Then select "check now" under
'Error-checking'. This will give you an option of fixing the files.
