Infrared (IR) support

My platform comes with IR (Ali fast Infrared Controller).
I have included all components I can find. I can see the Infrared devices
shown up under Device manager.
The issue I am having is: To test the IR function, I use ActiveSync. When I
install ActiveSync, it will always show no IR support.

I do not have this problem with XP Pro on same platform.

Any hints on any missing components?

John,

Typically, with IR, you have to assign it a COM port (or windows will). then
under connection settings with AS, you tell it to allow active sync over
Serial or Infra Red. From there you should be able to select the COM port
the IR port is assigned to (usually COM3 I believe)

Barring that, your IR port may not have a COM port associated with it. when
you bring an IR device in range, it should make the weird noise, and tell
you that it's got another device in range.

I do not see anywhere that I can assign it to COM port, and my XPPro does
not show it as COM port also. My AS just show "IR not installed", seems it
has not detect something.

I will try my PDA to see if I can hear any noise..

Regards,
John
