infinite reboot before login

Ok this is my dad's machine and I got no idea what he
could have done, but..

He has four seconds to login or the system will reboot.
There are no errors and the event log thinks everything
is smooth

Ahhhg..... Please Help!!!

The computer could be infected with a virus or possibly a hardware problem such as
overheating cpu, bad power supply, flaky memory, etc. Try booting into safe mode to
see if it helps and if it does you have a problem with a startup program/service or
driver and if it works in safe mode you can use msconfig to troubleshoot by disabling
startup programs/services to isolate the problem. What is the exact message that he
gets - that can be very helpful. --- Steve
