INF Install failure?

Hi- I've been having problems with getting WMP codecs to install, as well as
getting active x components to run on my new computer running windows xp home
with sp2 preinstalled. I was told to check for the acive x objects in my IE
temp folder, and I found the installer for the codecs I wanted (they wouldn't
install the normal ways, before you ask). So when I tried to run them, I was
told

INF Install failure. Reason: Not enough storage is available to process this
command.

The computer has tons of space and RAM, so there's gotta be something else
going on. Any suggestions? or is it time to reinstall windows?

Thanks,

Did you ever resolve this issue? Having identical problems on a new XP with
SP2 pre-installed.

Thanks,
