inf File Won't Install

When I right click on and .inf file nothing seems to happen. I'm trying
to install downloaded software for my monitor. Could this mean
that the .inf file is corrupt or could it be something else?

Do you get right click menus on other file types that are on the desktop or
in the start menu? If no, open Taskbar and Start Menu properties and enable
dragging and dropping in the Start Menu> Customize section. Once you have
the right click menus working, right click the INF file and select Install
from the menu list.

Are you logged on with an administrator account when you perform this
action?

MVP Doug Knox maintains a "file association fix" page. It includes a fix
for INF files:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

Unzip the download to get a .REG file. You can double click this file to
merge the information it contains into the registry (say yes to the prompt
and click OK on the notice that the merge succeeded). Or you can open the
file in Notepad to see what the registry values need to be changed to. Then
edit the registry manually. The change should be immediate. If not, restart
the system and try again.
