Index.htm Changed To "Default" On Server

FP 2003 changed my home page name from Index.htm to "Default" when it was
recently uploaded to an FTP server with MS FP 2002 extensions. Now, I can't
change the home page on the server when I make changes on my local Index.htm
file. Do I now re-name of the local Index.htm file to Default and upload
changes that way?

If the site is a FTP site, then why is the FP extensions installed?

If the extensions are installed and you publish via FP's http mode then the extensions will
determine the correct name to use for the home page based on how the web host has the server
configured.

Rename your local homepage to default.htm and let FrontPage update the links.
Republish your web.

If the server has extensions, publish to http:// "Not" ftp://

Tom,

Thanks for your response. Site was published using http to any ftp server
with fp 2002 extensions.. Have been advised solution is for me to rename
local drive "Index.htm" to Default, recreate links and upload so both local
FP file and server file are same.

FP will still rename the file if the web host has set the site up to use a different name.
