Index doesn't show in Help & Support window.

I can type in a search and links appear on the left of the screen. When I click on the Index button, the only thing on the left side of the screen is a tiny box with a red "X" in it. To me, when I click the Index button, it is not linking to the proper path to the Index. I was on the phone with Microsoft for 3 hours yesterday and didn't accomplish a thing. Help somebody!
