Index and Hyperlinking

I got my index to work (in Word). But when you click on the defined term, it
doesn't take you to the page where the defined term exists. In other words,
my index isn't hyperlinked. How do I get it to hyperlink please? Thank you.

Alas, that's something Word has never provided.

I am very surprised to find this out. I would have bet anything that
hyperlinking an Index to "defined terms" would be automatic.
