When I use bullets the text doesn't seem to have a space between it and the
bullet. Further, when the text wraps, it doesn't line up with the text on
the left margin above it. What's happening?

View|Rulers to turn on the ruler. Then drag the bottom caret so the text
aligns properly.

Rulers is on and I don't see any carets along it. The numbers goe 5 to 0 to
5. I'm using a blank text layout, which I created from the title slide
after removing the text on it.

It looks like I figured it out. Thanks. However, it would be good if each
time I made a box the carets would be set for indent as I need.

Create one and format it the way you want. Then right-click and choose Set
Autoshapes Default. The bullet and indent will be in place when you create
new textboxes.

After you set the default for textboxes, draw a line, give it a color and
right-click Set Autoshapes Default again so your actual autoshapes (like
lines and rectangles) have a line color.
