Incredimail

I use incredimail & when I try to send an e-mail it has a dialog box & says
forbidden, I think someone else on these newsgroups had the same problem. But
it only started to happen a few days ago when I registered with Mircosoft to
sign up for these Newsgroups, If I sign into my hotmail account another box
comes up & I have to match the letters in the box, my brother has a Hotmail
account but he doesn't get this box to match the pictures & he is not
registered with Microsoft. I also have had trouble receiving mail, if I sign
into my hotmail account then send for the mail through Incredimail it works,
but that is because I've signed in a matched the letters, I think having to
match the letters is preventing this to work properly, is anyone having to
match letters with Hotmail or just me, Can someone please help.

Nope your not the only one, this is a move that hotmail is done so we
can use their new service they will be releasing to use it with pop
clients. Just another move to make some money.

My suggestion DO NOT USE hotmail.....use gmail! :)

Thanx for your reply, but I still want to know why my brother doesn't have to
match the letters & he has a hotmail account. It's to much of a hassle
changing e-mail addresses but at the same time I don't want to stop using
incredimail either. Does anyone know of any other good e-mail programs that
might work with hotmail or are they blocking all e-mail programs.
Thanx

I use Incredimail and currently have no problem receiving/sending my
Hotmail/Yahoo and my own ISP's mail, however this is changing for Hotmail at
least.
I believe that free Hotmail access through other mail clients is slowly
being phased out by MSN and will cease by April for all. That applies only
to free Hotmail, not the paid accounts.

I downloaded an IncrediMail "help page" that states "On October1st 2004,
Microsoft blocked email accounts used in email clients such as Outlook
Express, Microsoft Outlook, Eudora or IncrediMail. Anyone who wishes to use
a Hotmail or MSN account in any email client is required to pay Microsoft for
this service." "If you would like to continue to use your Hotmail or MSN
email account in IncrediMail, you will have to pay Microsoft for their new
service. On the other hand, if you would like to continue using an email
account free of charge in IncrediMail, you can open a free POP3 email account
with SoftHome or HotPOP, or any other POP3 email accountprovider you wish to
use." This info is dated 2/8/05. I called MSN tech support- - they know
NADA about this, only that MSN does NOT support IncrediMail.
I am a relative "newbie" & have not decided WHAT to do. If anyone can give
me any help in the right direction, I'd certainly appreciate it! Willow

Yeah, I had read that same thing on the Incredimail help page a couple of
months ago but my incredimail was still working so I thought maybe it might
not effect me but it started to play up a few days ago, but only since I
registered with Microsoft for these newsgroups. I still don't know what to
do, I don't want to stop using Incredimail but I don't want to change e-mail
addresses either, & if MSN are stopping all e-mail programs that's even worse.

I'man Incredimail user and am still getting my free Hotmail thru' it. Send
a totally blank email to (e-mail address removed) and an auto-generated response
tells you that you can receive Hotmail email in Outlook Express using http.
Delete the Hotmail account in Incredimail, and Outloook E. .. set it up
again ni OE and then import the settings into Incredimail.
How long this will work is debatable, but as far as I'm concerned if it
stops it really isn't too much hassle to go to MSN Hotmail directly to read
mail, just install and use MSN Explorer.

Well, I think it is a hassle to go to MSN Hotmail to check my e-mails, & as
far as installing MSN Explorer it has the same problem as using a E-mail
program You have to pay for the priviledge. Nothing is free when it comes to
Microsoft, you would think that if you buy XP you should at least get MSN
Explorer free as it does come with XP.

MSN Explorer came free with my XP, so I don't see the problem. It certainly
doesn't charge me anything to use it instead of OE or IM to read Hotmail.

Well, it costs something now, I tried setting it up yesterday & you have to
pick which subscription package you want, you choose between monthly,6 months
or a year, & it's not cheap.

Strange. Have you added MSN Explorer thru' Add/Remove Windows Components
and tried that way? I recently reinstalled Windows and still get free
access thru' MSNE to my Hotmail.

What I meant to add was that MSN's intent was to only make access to Hotmail
restricted in OE/IM to free customers, but that the web interface would
remain free. I think you are trying to use the wrong interface.
Try the new MSN Messenger Beta 7, it has a direct link on it to mail.
http://messenger.msn.com/beta/ it also has a lot more bells and whistles.

Thanx for that, I wanted to try a different Interface to IE6, but that link
doesn't work, I tried downloading MSN Explorer the other day before realising
it comes with XP but the links weren't working so I e-mailed MSN & they said
they were having problems with the whole thing so I'll have to try it when it
is all fixed.

I knew that MSN are only blocking the free accounts but thats what's so
annoying, I mean who would pay for it when you have to pay for your ISP
account as well, you might as well just have an e-mail account with your ISP.

Anyway thanx for all your help.

Glad you (sort of) got it sorted out. It must have been a temporary problem
because I'm having no problems here. That link works for me...just Google
"Msn nessengr beta 7"

go into my computer look for the programs you have installed and delte
incredimail;
then you take incredimail.com
and reinstall the whole thing
