Increasing size on pst file

J

John Gregory

I have a pst file that I keep old e-mails in. Periodically I clean out old
e-mail, however when I deleted files this time, the pst file actually grew in
size.

I deleted files, then emptied the deleted files folder (all of them), closed
and restarted Outlook, but the file is larger than when I started, even with
the file deleted.

What am I missing here?

Did you right-click the root of the PST in the Navigation Pane, choose
Properties, click Advanced, and then Compact Now?

But note that compacting only works when a significant portion of free
space exists within the PST file. It won't compact if it's only a few
percent.
