Hello,
I am getting the "Incorrect Function" when trying to save to a cd-r in some
programs (mostly office xp programs) Sometimes if I drag and drop or copy
and paste a file into the drive I will get the same error. I found an
article on the microsoft website that is similar but it is for roxio users,
and roxio has never been installed on this machine. Can anyone help me?

HOW TO: Troubleshoot Issues That Occur When You Write Data to a CD-R or CD-RW
Optical Disc in Windows XP
"Drive not accessible, incorrect function This error message typically occurs
when you try to write to a CD-R or a CD-RW, but the Windows XP built-in disc
recording feature does not recognize the CD drive as a recordable drive. This
error message may also occur if specific third-party programs are installed. "

Thanks for the reply, but as I stated I looked at the Microsoft articles and
I have never had Roxio Easy CD Creator which is the only solution listed.
The drive is recognized as recordable. I do not get the error all the time,
it usually only happens in Microsoft Office programs. If I do a save as in
Word to the cd drive I get the error. If I do the same thing in notepad it
works fine.

Sorry I couldn't help, it's a mystery.

Thank you, it seems to be a major problem, I have many posts about the same
issue but no solutions.
