Incorrect folder thumbnail help

W

Wing

I use XP. When I right-click on a folder in thumbnail view
-> properties -> customize, I am able to change the default
picture on the thumbnail (so that I can pick a particular
picture for the thumbnail rather than seeing the IE default
which is a collage of 4 random pictures inside the folder).

The problem is, the thumbnail pictures of other folders are
now messed up. Other folders which I did not specifically
assign thumbnail pictures are now using these assigned
thumbnail pictures. Has anyone encountered this or know how
to solve this problem?

Example:

Before:
Folder A somewhere on my harddrive, has default thumbnail
(a collage of 4 pictures inside folder A)
Folder B elsewhere on my harddrive, totally not related to
folder A, has default thumbnail (a collage of 4 pictures
inside folder B)

Now I assign a specific picture "C" inside Folder A to be
used as the thumbnail picture for Folder A.

After:
Folder A now uses "C" as its thumbnail picture
Folder B now used "C" as its thumbnail picture as well!!
And folder B is some random folder on my harddrive! It
seems to happen to many folders like this randomly.

Thanks for any help!

Wing,

Neatly explained, good work!

Try this fix:
Increase Folder View Options Limit: (Line 2):
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Don't worry about the title. This fix resets all the folder view settings
and also increases the cache to 8000.
