Inconsistent Behavior Sending Email

Using Outlook 2002 connecting to my ISP. I recently imported a .pst file that
contains contacts. If I create a new mail message and select the "To" button
to select addressees from the imported contacts folder and then send email, I
get an undeliverable message in the format:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: Test Message
Sent: 10/26/2004 4:56 PM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

First Last ([email protected]) on 10/26/2004 4:56 PM
None of your e-mail accounts could send to this recipient.

However, if I go into the imported contacts folder, right click on the entry
for the same contact and select "New Message to Contact", then I am able to
successfully send the message. Does this sound familiar to anybody?

Check to make sure that the address type for the recipients is set to "SMTP"
(double-click on the email address in the contact form to see the address
details).
