incompatible software

K

kalmatt

ok, when I was trying to re-install Windows XP I got a
message that I have an incompatible driver (Adaptec CD-R
filter Driver (required by Adaptec CD creator and EZ-
SCSI4.x) versions 2.4 and earlier).

Well I've done regedit and I can't find it.

I've searched my hard drive for a file and I can't find
it.

I've used RegCleaner and I can't find it...

But Windows XP CD will not let me re-install until I get
rid of it.

How do I find it?????

PS. all of my CD-ROM and CD-writer drives work ok - so
I'm really confused

Look for it here:

c:\windows\system32\drivers

Look for a file "aspi32.sys". If you find it, right click the file
and check properties. Look for the version and date. That file
should be version 4.71.2.0, dated 07/17/02 provided by Adaptec. Some
older versions of this driver will interfere and should not be loaded.
If you have an older version, rename it (don't delete it) and reboot.
See if that resolves the problem.
