What should be done when if you get the following message
during an install:

Visio is incompatible with this version of Windows. For
more information, contact Microsoft.

I am installing Visio Standard v5.0c on a Windows XP Pro
laptop.

If you cannot get your old version of Visio to install using the
Compatibility Wizard, then you'll need to purchase a newer version.

What you'd need to do is get the upgrade to an XP-compatible version. You
may qualify for upgrade price reductions.

You can try changing the compatiability setting in the
properities, checking the Windows Knowledgebase and last,
do what it says, contact Microsoft. Have you looked for a
newer version?

Why, I would do as the message says! Get a compatible version!
