When I get a message that tells me that: "Windows cannot
open this file. To open this file, Windows needs to know
what program created it. Windows can go online to look it
up automatically, or you can manually select from a list
of programs on your computer."
Then I can choose from Use the Web service to find the
appropriate program or Select the program from a list.
I do not know what to do. When I choose to use the Web
service I either get a page that tells me that that page
is not available or I get a page that perhaps lists the
name of another page which leads me to another
page, ........ But nothing to tell me what program
created the picture or message so that I could try to
figure it out.
The Select the program from a list option is no help
either. If I knew the program name, I wouldn't have to
ask.
Some of the problems come from things that were created
in Macintosh programs and I need to find, if it exists,
some program that can translate Mac stuff into something
that the XP can handle.
But others are not Macintosh. I don't know what they are.
I don't know where to look on an Index or Help page. What
do I call this problem? Where might it be listed?
Help!
Thanks for any help from anyone.

XP is not going to open the Mac programs, and if you don't know what the
other programs are we sure can't help.
