incoming mail disappears

It seems that most of my incoming mail in outlook 2003 disappears even
before I can read it.

What could be the cause?
 
Check your View>Arrange by>Current View and make sure it's set to show All
Messages, not just Unread mail etc. Also check your Rules and Junk Mail
Settings.

After checking junk mail settings I noticed that the option 'Permanently
delete suspected junk e-mail instead of moving it to the Junk E-mail folder'
was enabled.
