Inbox Setting

I have my inbox set up so that the screen is split with
the e-mail address, date, time, and subject on the top and
the text of the e-mail on the bottom. First, is it
possible to get a virus with that setting? Second, how do
I configure the Inbox so that opening e-mails is "manual"
like Sent mail? Thank you.

Which version of Outlook are you using and more important; have you left the
Level1 security intact? This means that files like *.exe, *.bat, *.vbs, and
other files that contain scripts are blocked by Outlook. If so; you are
quite safe already. Also make sure that the security zone in Tools->
Options-> tab Security is set to restricted sites and that that zone is set
to high.

Make sure you are running the lastest Windows and Office updates and Outlook
is about as safe as possible right now but that is just one step. Running an
up to date virusscanner and a well configured firewall are very (if not
more) important as well. These will make your computer secure and not just
your Outlook. Outlook 2003 also has Internet Picture blocking which also
prevents some spammers from verifying your e-mail address.
