Inbox number does not increase with new mail

Hi

There are a couple of users in my office who have Outlook 2000 and whose
Inbox number showing new email only increases when another folder is clicked
on even though they have new emails delivered. When booted in Safe Mode the
Inbox number increases normally as new email is delivered.

Has anyone had this issue before or have suggestions on how to resolve it?

Assuming you are working with an Outlook/Exchange connection, then I would
say look at the configuration of the personal/windows firewall. (It is most
likely blocking the UDP packet from Exchange server to Outlook.)
