Inbox not connecting to server

If there is anyone who can help; I'd be forever grateful! It sees my mother was fooling around on my computer a week ago, and did some reconfiguring without my husband or I knowing about it. One minute my computer was working fine, then next thing, a box was popping up saying my server could not be found. My pc tech said that my firewall was preventing my connection; but I have no idea how to fix it. I've disabled, and re-enabled; but that's not the problem...I'm connected to the internet fine; I can surf, and use my msn, etc.; it's just my inbox I'm having problems with. Another box pops up saying that microsoft has been replaced by some other files; but I have no idea what it meant. Also; the guy we bought it off of was supposed to be a "computer genius"; so my mother claims...but we've had nothing but problems since we got it.

If anyone has any ideas (besides my husband's to put a sledge through it); it would save me a lot of grief for a few more months.

What is the exact text of the pop-ups that you're getting? It may help us
figure out what's wrong...
