Inaccessible drive A: and D:

I have lost access to my floppy A: and CDR/CDRW D: drives.
Message: D:\ inaccessible. Incorrect Function (1)."
Same for "A" drive. Wont read any type of floppy or CD.
But, I can burn a data cd!
Hardware/Devices all in order. Windows does detect the
drives at start-up. No conflicts found. Tried all
troubleshooting procedures, incl. uninstall/reinstall of
drivers, etc.
I'm on Win2000, updated Nero installed, Etrust Antivirus,
Office 2000, PC Anywhere.
There have been a few posting about this - different
solutions (none have worked for me do far). I tried
unsintalling/reinstalling Nero, too.

Frustrating!!!!

now in previous posts I said I had that problem was due to upgrading to
Norton AntiVirus 2004 from NAV 2002. Once I uninstalled NAV 2004 all my
removable drives became functional.

Now another strange problem. While trying to figure all this out, I upgraded
INCD and Nero software. In upgrading the INcd to the current version, I
again had the same problem with my optical drives, though my floppy was ok.
I went back to the older version of INcd and all was well again.

I run win 2000 also.
