In Internet Explorer I can download files

Tom

I was working on a customer's computer the other day and
they can not download anything by clicking on a link on
a web page. Hyperlinks work fine, but when I click on a
link to download a file I have problems.

I tried to download Adobe Reader from Adobe's web site
and when I click on the link, IE says downloading in the
bottom left of the IE window, but does not do anything
else.

I then tried to go to Download.com to download Adobe
reader, same problem.

I then went to HP's web site to download a printer driver
and same thing happens.

I have tried disabling Norton Internet Security to see if
the firewall was blocking it. No change

I did a full system scan for viruses, no change.

Best of luck Tom I will be watching this thread as I have the same problem
downloading CSV files. I have to bring up Netscape to download them, it
properly downloads them into Excel which also means my associations are
correct which was the only suggestion given here. "check associations"

Tom,
"but when I click on a link to download a file I have problems"
What problems? ...... give us something to go on here .......

You may need to clear your TIF as you may have a corrupt file there.

Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button, when prompted place a check in:
"Delete all offline content", click OK
Click the "Clear History" button, click OK.
Click the Settings button, adjust the TIF size to 50 mb, click OK
