In box empty in cache mode

I am trying to set up junk mail rules and I know I can
only do this in cache mose. The trouble is when i adjust
the settings to run in cache mode my in box is empty my
subfolders are all in order but mail in my inbox is not
loaded from the server. As soon as I switch back to
connected I get my inbox mail showing again? Any one had
this problem before?

Make sure the folder is marked for synchronisation and that there are no
exceptions set?
Tools-> Options-> tab Mail Setup-> button Send Receive-> button Edit

and

Rightclick the Inbox-> Properties-> button Synchronize

If all settings are correct delete your ost-file and restart the
synchronisation
