impossibility of saving to my computer, or uninstalling

Movie Maker 2 apparently worked perfectly well until
today, when I tried to "save movie file" - the menu
appeared crumbled, the program crashed when I asked
for "shop more choices" and when it seemed to be saving,
it insisted on the option of "saving to recordable disk"
taking a number of minutes running into millions.
NB My desktop PC has recently refused to play WMV files
with picture - it only plays them in sound

Further to the above: I discovered that the WMV playing
problem was due to the absence of a codec, but despite
reinstalling MM" from disc and from download, it still
tries to save, taking literally millions of minutes, on a
reodable CD when I haven't specified one and crashes when
I ask for other saving choices. One thing worth noting:
the menu for saving movie file is visibly distorted: the
first few options are crunched together.
Any ideas?

I'm very new to MM1 & MM2, however i am wondering if use
are using IE or Netscape? All but 2 people i have sent
clips to could see & hear. The two that couldn't both
used Netscape, the rest do use IE. Just a thought.

Follow up:
Reinstalling WMP9 solved the problem.

Not an intuitive fix, of course.

Hi there,

If your system is so screwed up that the menus are not even displaying
correctly then the best course of action is probably a complete re-install
of everything including XP.
