importing xp outlook to vista outlook . . . not successful!

I cannot "import" xp outlook (not express) into vista outlook.
i have 2007 MS office with outlook for vista . . .
i formerly had 2002 MS office with outlook for xp . . .

is it a "vista" issue?
is it an "outlook" issue?

all documentation points to: vista as a home edition and not commercial
outlook????? this doesn't make sense as this is an "enterprise" edition.
is "outlook" now considered commercial and "outlook express" considered for
home?

i don't consider myself a "techie".

my business relies on my ability to import "outlook" data contacts, e-mail
drafts, etc. my data is quite extensive.

i know this info is on my old hard drive. however, i cannot see it. what
is the extension or filename? is "vista" outlook not allowing me to see it?
perhaps because of home edition only?

i appreciate your review of my issue and thank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm baffled! :(

You dont Import native outlook data.
In Outlook, File>Open>Data File.......browse to the old pst.

If you receive 'compatibility' err msgs, then it either means the read only
flag of the pst is turned on, or the method used to copy the pst was
incorrect.
