Importing Very Large Excel Table into Word

I

Idaho Word Man

I'm running Word 2003 under Windows XP Professional.

I have an Excel document with 10,000+ rows that I need to put into Word as
an appendix to a scientific report.

I have tried copying the table in Excel and using Paste Special to paste it
as either HTML Format or Formatted Text (RTF). Both of those options hang up
for five to ten minutes, and then crash my machine. I was able to get it to
paste in as RTF once, but I couldn't do anything with it.

Is there an easier way to do what I need without sucking up all my
computer's memory? Can I create a link somehow rather than inserting a
350-page table? If so, how? What other options exist?

Thanks for your help.

Try paste link - I just did that with a spreadsheet with 17,000 rows and it
worked perfectly - no time delay, either
