Importing .pst file from another system

I was given a copy of my personal e-mails and contacts
from my previous employer in a .pst file. When I try to
import this file into my new Outlook e-mail, I receive an
error message that says that I am not authorized to
access the .pst file. How do I get around this?

Copy the pst-file to the harddisk and remove the "Read Only" file property.
Then connect to it by File-> Open-> Outlook Data File...
