importing outloook express msgs

I am trying to import my messages from Outlook Express 6 into Vista Mail. I
have saved all the .DBX files, but the only option when I go to import is "
Import mail from an OE6 store directory". The "Import mail from an OE6
identity" is grayed out. When I go to the folder where the .DBX files are
it shows nothing. (they are there as when I go there in My Computer they all
show up)

I did see where it says that Windows Mail does not use identities, so am I
just SOL on importing my old OE6 messages

I can't believe there isn't a way to import your old mail????

Thanks.

I'm having the same problem.
This is what you can do for now before loosing them and able to read on
new PC:
Using Outlook Express select all the messages and forward them to yourself
and receive them by Windows Mail on new PC. You can save the attachment

Thanks for the reply. At least it's not me. What does MS expect people to
do that don't have Outlook to read their old mail? Doesn't make any sense.

For now I am OK not being able to get to them. I know where they are and I
can if I have to put them on another XP box I have here..

Thanks. I did what it said to import from Outlook Express, but just like
when I pointed it to another folder it's blank. It has something to do with
the differences in the format from OE to Windows Mail. Is this BS or what?

I don't understand his section on editing the registry as I have been
backing up OE for years by just copying the .DBX files to another drive, and
when needed just doing an import. I also just copy the .WAB (making sure to
get the right one and NOT that junk one in the OE folder). Actually I
imported that .WAB into Windows Mail and he says it doesn't use it. ???

Any way, this is absolutely stupid that MS doesn't have a method to get this
done.

Vista has been on the machine for 15 hours and I can't even get Acrobat
installed, it's telling me the drive with the temp file is full..

I think I'll just unhook the drive, and it will boot back into XP.

Problem solved (for now).

Thanks. (sorry, didn't mean to rant)
