Importing Outlook Express mail accounts

K

Kevin Wojcik

Hello,

I have just upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Home
and am having problems importing my mail accounts. In ME
I went into Outlook Express and exported my mail accounts
and saved them off to .iaf files. In XP I go into Outlook
Express and try to import the mail accounts but the import
fails. I have 4 mail accounts I am trying to import and
only one is successfully imported, the other 3 fail. I
get the following message: Import was unsuccessful because
an error occured. Can anyone tell me what the problem
is.

Thanks,
Kevin

Exporting is only for exporting to Outlook or Exchange, either of which
have to be installed on the PC for this to work. (Note that Outlook and
Outlook Express are two different applications.)

Are you importing from a read only media type?

I found moving everying to a folder seemed to tame a lot of the nonsense,
especially with address book files!

No. I am exporting the account files to a new folder I
created. It seems to be a hit or miss kinda thing. One
of the accounts that has been failing to import was
suddenly successfully imported last night. This was after
I exported/imported/deleted the .iaf files several times.
Not sure if the .iaf files are being corrupted when the
account is exported but maybe they are???
