Any one have a clue how to do this as I am about ready to break something as
this shouldn't be that hard to do. I have already tried the so called "Easy
Transfer" Option. All this does is copy my account settings and PST to a
folder under my user ID called Outlook and then I can't import any of it.
The only thing I have been successful with is getting the Contacts in. Also
I do not have the Office 2003 install CD's or I would have tried that long
ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!!

Help from Outlook is needed to handle the .pst file. One way to do
it it to install a version of Outlook, version 2003 or later, under Vista.
A free trial version, if you can find one, will do.

The other way to do it is to first move the messages from Outlook
to Outlook Express on the old computer, and then move them over
to Windows Mail under Vista.

Thanks for the help I am going to try the trial version and see what I can do
from there I might come back here if I have any questions still. I am
hoping this works though.

I cannot seem to find a free trial of Outlook 2003 anywhere. There are many
sites that claim to have a free version but are just advertising for you to
sign up to buy something else! Can you let me know where there is a truly
free site for Outlook 2003? Thanks.

Thanks.

I doubt if you'll find a free trial of a version that old. Look for a free
trial of Outlook 2007 instead.

Thanks, I did download Outlook 2007 and opened it. When I went to import my
old .pst file it came back with an error message. It said, "File access is
denied. You do not have the permission to access the file".

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Sorry, I'm not that familiar with Outlook.

Have you checked the "Read Only" attribute of the file? Have you right clicked
on the file and on the Security tab taken ownership and given your user account
full control?

Hey big brother Bear. Thank you. That worked! Leave it to a fellow UC alum
to help out.

Robert thanks also for getting me that far.

Ah, fantastic!

You're most welcome.

My great pleasure to have helped a fellow UC alum (my second today alone). Lots
of us UC grads in these Microsoft newsgroups -- glad I chose that handle!

Whenever I am in LA, I always visit the Bruin Bookstore and pick up a UCLA cap
which I proudly wear here in NYC along with my Cal sweatshirt. I also suffer
when the Bruins loose a game and beam when UCLA wins another Nobel laureate.
